Hwb Dyfodol is a collaborative initiative designed to build expertise and capacity in foresight and futures thinking across Wales. By bringing together practitioners from various organizations, we’re creating a strong foundation for long-term planning and decision-making that benefits future generations.

As our core members include Welsh Government, Natural Resources Wales, Public Health Wales and the Office of the Future Generations Commissioner, our expertise has supported key statutory projects like the Future Generations Report 2025 and the State of Natural Resources Report 2025. We also have plans to support the Future Trends Report 2026.

We’re exploring how futures approaches can strengthen Public Services Boards’ assessments and well-being plans; and can collaborate on strategic projects that apply futures methodologies to address complex challenges.

We’re also hoping to build strong partnerships with academic institutions through joint research initiatives, workshops, and funding applications.

We facilitate a growing community of practitioners who meet every two months to share learning, best practices, and collaborate on futures work. This network strengthens Wales’ collective futures capacity and provides mutual support for implementing innovative approaches.

Hwb Dyfodol welcomes collaboration with organisations and individuals interested in building futures literacy and applying foresight methodologies. Together, we can make Wales the most futures-literate nation in the world.
