Future Generations Cymru
Wales is part of a global movement – with an aim for us all to have what we need to thrive and leave behind a liveable planet.
Without action, we’d be on track for an unrecognisable future, of increasing floods, megafires and food instability.
Wales has committed to future generations thinking. It’s the only country in the world with a Well-being of Future Generations Act – enshrining the rights of current generations alongside people who haven’t been born yet.
For example, if the government sets a new policy or a council builds new housing, it should be future-fit for trends coming our way in 100 years.
Acting today for a better tomorrow means we do everything we can to ensure we all have what we need to thrive for our whole lives and leave behind a livable planet.
The public sector here has to make joined-up, long-term decisions and it’s created shifts to a greener transport strategy, a progressive curriculum and a new way to define prosperity that focuses on people and planet.
Wales is part of a global movement of countries that are seeking to do the right thing for the long term.
We can make a difference and future generations won’t forgive us if we don’t.
