Media Communicator – £25,032 per annum, full time.

Changing culture in the public sector, improving the social, economic, environmental and cultural well- being of Wales and protecting the interests of Future Generations, all fall within the remit of the Well-being of Future Generations Act. The Future Generations Commissioner and her Team provide advice to the Government and other public bodies in Wales on delivering the Act for current and future generations, and assessing and reporting on how they are delivering.

 

The job

Your main purpose as our Media Communicator is to bring to life the work of the Commissioner and her team, identifying opportunities to involve our audiences in stories and news relevant to the work of the Future Generations Commissioner.

You will identify, develop and maintain relationships with key media contacts within Wales to meet the Commissioner’s remit of driving the changes needed in the public sector.

 

Is this you?

Are you a natural storyteller – someone with skills in both the Welsh and English language, who is constantly curious about the latest story in the press and passionate about creating stories about our own work that will inspire people to support a movement for change?

Do you enjoy writing bilingual copy, creating briefings and key messages to build momentum about the work of your Team?

Are you keen to work collaboratively with Communications Officers across the Public Sector in Wales and Welsh Government to align messaging around the Act to help deliver on the Commissioner’s vision to build a movement for change?

 

What skills will you need?

You will have experience of identifying stories and opportunities to enhance the profile of an organisation, community group or club and be able to demonstrate some measurable achievements.

You’ll have some experience of working in a press office.

You’ll have advanced Welsh Language skills or the motivation to quickly improve existing language skills so that you’ll be comfortable talking to Welsh medium media outlets and journalists and proof reading content translated by external contractors.

You’ll have some knowledge of key national and regional journalists and media outlets in Wales

You’ll be able to demonstrate some understanding of the Well-being of Future Generations Act.
