Simple Changes #73

Share public engagement opportunities and data with other organisations

1

Problem

People do not live their lives, or connect to their communities, on the footprint of their local authority, or health board, or any other organisation. Organisations have the opportunity to share and collaboratively resource approaches to engage people. Research has shown that many of the same people are being consulted, and the volume is such that many organisations are now complaining of consultation fatigue.

2

Simple Change

By co-hosting events and sharing findings from other public engagement activities across departments and organisations, you will be demonstrating two of the other five ways of working; collaboration with other partners, and integration across work-streams. This avoids duplication and removes barriers to data and vital intelligence that your organisation might hold, which could be invaluable for another team. This also helps to reduce ‘consultation fatigue’ and encourages people to think of the bigger picture.
