Simple Changes #19

Procure and plant native trees and shrubs as a first choice

1

Problem

Trees are critical to human health and well-being. Trees and shrubs provide important habitat for wildlife, filter air pollution, improve the way places look  and can increase commercial and residential prices. Urban trees are particularly effective at absorbing carbon dioxide and providing essential shade.

Simple Change

By procuring and planting native trees there are additional benefits; supporting a much wider range of species, giving a greater connectivity of food and shelter sources for wildlife, absorbing water to mitigate floods as well as an increased visitor economy.
