Simple Changes #50

Map out the community anchor organisations you are working with and explore further opportunities

1

Problem

There is a need to appreciate the strengths and possibilities within community anchor organisations working in your area. We need community based organisations who seek out and listen to the needs and views of local people, championing and advocating on their behalf and provide services and activities for the community, working closely in partnership with public, private and third sector organisations locally.

Simple Change

Public bodies need to understand the value that community anchor organisations play in the lives of local people, and by doing this you will be able to identify further opportunities to do much more

Case Study

Who is doing this?

Some organisations, like the Ebbw Vale Institute, can provide a host of services that make the communities they’re based in a better place. They offer a space to socialise, be creative and take in the culture of the local area. In this video, the staff at Ebbw Vale Institute (EVI) tell us what they love about the historic cultural centre, which opened its doors in 1853 and continues to inspire to this very day.
